A Bailey Legacy

Malibu’s Muse (Part 1)

The beauty of the world never ceases to amaze me, even on a freezing cold day on the University campus.  Maybe it’s just my artistic nature which draws me towards the small things which others may overlook.Screenshot-2343Art was just one of things I’d always enjoyed and it was my way of expressing things.Screenshot-2215Being a triplet, I made sure to  establish my individuality at a young age.  That’s where my interest in cats came about (I had always admired their independent and proud natures).  I couldn’t stop Amaretto or Jameson from going to same University as me, however, and to be honest it was comforting to know they were always nearby.Screenshot-2203My older brother, Murphy, was in his final year by the time we had started our first.  Somehow, despite juggling his relationship with Margaret Cade with the ever-growing demand of his degree, he was on track to graduating with first class honors Screenshot-2266Obviously being the wise older sibling, he even gave me some very constructive advice when I revealed to him my very first University crush.

‘Don’t go out with Steve, he’s a dick.Screenshot-2449Truth was, I was somewhat attracted to the bad boys; be it jocks, rebels or nerds (yes, you can get bad nerds!), being a bit of a rebel myself.  Screenshot-2243Of course I had a sensitive side to.  Between classes and my art projects, I often wandered the University grounds, exploring the endless sights it had to offer. Screenshot-2284I remember one day when I bumped into one of the not too bad looking Chinese exchange students, who looked a little bit lost.Screenshot-2287Sadly he barely spoke or understood a word of English.  I’m not sure how he had even gotten on the exchange student program, or how he was managing to cope with his classes.  Screenshot-2289The thing that depressed me was that Mum had started dating Dad at high school when they were both fifteen or so.  I’d anticipated the same sort of thing would’ve happen to me, but it seemed that times had changed since my parents were young.  Perhaps it was just as well because I would have let the event, which occurred the following morning, slip by without a moments notice. Screenshot-2242I was sat in the mess halls, chewing away at a couple of waffles I had conjured up using my “pro” cooking skills. Screenshot-2250‘Mind if I have some?’ A deep velvet voice asked.  I knew who it was without having to take a glance.  Aaron Matthews; he actually lived in the same dormitory as me and was studying Physical Education, if you couldn’t tell by his six-pack.  Until then we had never really spoken, mostly because he was known to be a party animal so was rarely home when I was.

Realising he was referring to the stack of waffles in the center of the table, I nodded and mumbled through a mouthful for him to help himself.  Scraping back the chair besides me, Aaron sat down and filled up his empty plate and started to munch away. Screenshot-2251As we sat next to each other eating my waffles (oo err) in a comfortable silence, in nothing more than our night-wear, I was certain that this was the start of something most beautiful.Screenshot-2252
